Office of the Ombudsman
The Office of the Ombudsman works independently as an intermediary to provide individuals with a confidential avenue to address complaints and resolve issues at the lowest possible level. The Office proposes policy and procedural changes when systemic issues are identified.
How the Ombudsman Can Help
If a family member has an issue with their Loved One and don’t know who can help or how to resolve it, the Ombudsman will be able to help you with contacting the right department or helping get the issue resolved. The Ombudsman is the link between families and CDCR. The Ombudsman can’t help in every circumstance. Ombudsman and the SIFC/IFC’s
The Office of the Ombudsman is a valuable resource to both the SIFC and the local IFC’s. Part of the Ombudsman’s job is to make sure that each prison has a functioning IFC and IFC’s are working with the Wardens. SIFC and IFC meeting minutes are sent to the Ombudsman and, periodically, the Ombudsman will be a guest in the IFC meetings.
